Six Days Backpacking to Sikkim

Description

In the lap of Mother Nature, Sikkim is like a beautiful baby of the North Eastern states in India. This small state has so much to offer that it sometimes surprises the visitors. Adventure, nature, spiritualism, cultural and most importantly peace of mind, Sikkim is one of those places that some might call too good to be true. However, the fact remains, there exists a place as unbelievable as Sikkim that makes all the wishes of an avid traveler come true.

Itinerary

    Journey to Gangtok :

    We start the journey from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station latest by 10:30 Hrs and begin our transfer to Gangtok.

    En-route visit Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, Sevoke Road and Tista River.

    We reach Gangtok latest by 15:30 Hrs. & check into the Hotel.

    Evening is for leisure around M.G. Marg, Gangtok.

    A Visit to Tsomgo Lake :

    Post Breakfast, around 09:00 Hrs, we start for Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir by Car. (40 Kilometers- 3 to 4 hours). Nathula Pass is 20 Kilometers away from Baba Mandir. (Optional Trip)

    We return back to our Hotel around Sunset.

    Evening is for leisure around M.G. Marg, Gangtok.

    Journey to Lachen :

    Around 10:30 Hrs, we start for Lachen, a tiny hamlet in the northern territory of Sikkim.

    On the way, we explore the forest grove of Kabi lungchok. We stop for lunch at Singhik, where we enjoy the magnificent view of Kanchenjunga. We also visit Chungthang at the confluence of Lachen La and Lachung La and Bhim Nala water-falls.

    Reach Lachen around 16:30 Hrs and check into the Hotel

    Evening is free for leisure in Lachen.

    A Visit to Gurudongmar Lake and Journey to Lachung :

    We start the day with breakfast at the hotel and then drive to the legendary Gurudongmar Lake, considered to be most sacred lake in North Sikkim. (Please note that only Indian Nationals can visit this lake, so if you are accompanied by any foreigner friend you need to intimate us in advance). The lake is situated at the highest altitude of the North Sikkim and hence its high altitude may cause the breathing problem. Be prepared and do not exert.

    We return to the hotel, take refreshments and leave for Lachung. Overnight stay at Lachung Hotel.

    Yumthang Exploration and Journey to Gangtok :

    We proceed for an excursion to Yumthang valley, the ultimate valley of flowers in North Sikkim (Alt 11,800 ft).

    On the way back, we visit Hot Spring – the crystal clear water is said to have some medicinal properties.

    An optional tour to Yumesamdong Valley or Zero Point, close to Tibet Border (Alt 15,000 ft, 23 Kms from Yumthang) can be arranged for Indian tourists only.

    Return back to hotel & leave for Gangtok.

    Overnight stay at Gangtok Hotel.

    The End :

    Post breakfast, we begin transfer to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station

  • Fixed Departure Trips will have minimum of 5 Backpackers
  • Additional Fee of Rs. 1500/- per person for visit to Nathula Pass and Zero Point.
  • Please note that only Indian Nationals can visit Gurudongmar lake, so if you are accompanied by any foreigner friend you need to intimate us in advance of one month.
  • Only on payment of minimum 50% of the trip cost will secure a seat.
